About Me
Hi there! As you might have guessed, my name's Simon Henshall, and I work in the IT industry. In 2016, I made the decision to start up Alpha Web, which offers web development services. And over my years in the industry, I developed a passion for cybersecurity. Although I can't reveal too many tricks of the trade, what I can reveal is thatI currently hold the national record for penetration testing challenges over at WeChall (an amalgamation of the vast majority of penetration testing 'challenge' sites).
Following my passion for cybersecurity, I decided to set up my own cybersecurity company, Alpha Safe. AlphaSafe.co.nz acts as a sister site to Alpha Web, combining the best of both modern web design and web security. Whether you're a sole trader or a multinational corporation, Alpha Safe can provide you with the best possible security for your website.
As for my personal character, I'm an honest, chivalrous and assertive guy who's outgoing and loves meeting new people. I love video games, and would consider myself very competitive - I actually have several national records, and even a handful of world records in video games. I also play a mean game of chess, and am always up for a game on either Chess.com or LiChess.
I'm a huge fan of music, with arguably the most eclectic tastes in anyone you'll ever meet. From Vera Lynn to Eminem, there's almost no music that I don't like. Some of my favourites encompass well-known 'classics' such as Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, and Elton John, as well as modern rock like Evanescence, Green Day, Linkin Park, and The Killers. If I had to state my favourite genre, it would probably be metalcore, and I'm a huge fan of several obscure artists who gained fame primarily through YouTube, such as Ken Ashcorp and PrinceWhateverer.
If you stumbled upon this website and like the design, please feel free to check out my web portfolio over at www.simonhenshall.co.nz. I'm more than happy to help set you up with a website of your own!
My Favourite Quotes

"Where your fear is, there your task is."
"Our sins are more easily remembered than our good deeds."
"The most dangerous of all educational mistakes in influencing humanity, is due to the fact, that children are now taught the Old Testament account of the world as absolute truth, although it wholly contradicts their physical and historical instruction."

"We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak."
"Without music, life would be a mistake."
"Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance."
"It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company."

"Once you become consciously aware that you, yourself, are vulnerable, you understand the nature of human vulnerability, in general. You understand what it’s like to be fearful, and angry, and resentful, and bitter. You understand what pain means. And once you truly understand such feelings in yourself, and how they’re produced, you understand how to produce them in others. It is in this manner that the self-conscious beings that we are, become voluntarily and exquisitely capable of tormenting others."

"When people get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment feels like discrimination."
"Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy, so they know the value of things, not the price."

My Favourite Songs
Akin to MTV's classic 'Top 40' (and later 'U Choose 40'), I've decided to create my own 'Top 40' playlist. Below you'll find my favourite forty songs, in order. This page directly references the Spotify API, and essentially provides a custom presentation of the corresponding Spotify playlist, which can be found here.

* These scores were recorded on an original PAL Xbox One (1540)
* Most times were recorded in the 3.1 control style (using the stick), before learning of the benefits of using the D-Pad on a 1.2 control style. As such, this page is a living work in progress, as times are improved using the new scheme. For the time being, I've indicated which control style was used to achieve the time (in brackets).
