About Me
Hi there! As you might have guessed, my name's Simon Henshall, and I work in the IT industry. In 2016 I made the decision to start up my own web development company, which I called Alpha Web, and still manage to this day. While working in the IT industry, I developed a passion for cybersecurity, and even tried my hand at penteration testing (otherwise known as ethical hacking). I currently hold the national record for penetration testing over at WeChall, which is an amalgamation of the vast majority of hacking 'challenge' sites.
Following my passion for cybersecurity, I decided to set up my own cybersecurity company, acting as a sister company to Alpha Web. Alpha Safe provides all the advice and tools you need to stay safe online, whether you're a sole trader or a multinational corporation. Visit them over at AlphaSafe.co.nz to protect yourself from all the dangers of the Internet.
As for my personal character, I'm an honest, chivalrous and assertive guy who's outgoing and loves meeting new people. I love video games, and would consider myself very competitive - I actually have several national records, and even a handful of world records in video games. I also play a mean game of chess, and am always up for a game on either Chess.com or LiChess.
I'm a huge fan of music, with arguably the most eclectic tastes in anyone you'll ever meet. From Vera Lynn to Eminem, there's almost no music that I don't like. Some of my favourites encompass well-known 'classics' such as Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, and Elton John, as well as modern rock like Evanescence, Green Day, Linkin Park, and The Killers. If I had to state my favourite genre, it would probably be metalcore, and I'm a huge fan of several obscure artists who gained fame primarily through YouTube, such as Ken Ashcorp and PrinceWhateverer.
If you stumbled upon this website and like the design, please feel free to check out my web portfolio over at www.simonhenshall.co.nz. I'm more than happy to help set you up with a website of your own!

My Favourite Songs
Akin to MTV's classic 'Top 40' (and later 'U Choose 40'), I've decided to create my own 'Top 40' playlist. Below you'll find my favourite forty songs, in order. This page directly references the Spotify API, and essentially provides a custom presentation of the corresponding Spotify playlist, which can be found here.
